Our Opportunity:

Corenic is seeking a Senior Estimator for their Estimating/Pre-Con department.  The Senior Estimator gathers, calculates and compiles data for use in conceptual/bid proposal estimates, preparing routine estimates under general supervision.  In addition, this position maintains current, accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact and written materials, price lists, etc.  

In this role, the candidate will carry out the following essential duties and key responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the Director of Pre-Construction and the Estimating department's efforts to secure successful bids and verify Scopes of Work from subcontractors
  • Formats Bids to fulfill all RFP requirements
  • Scope and takeoff construction documents
  • Level Subcontractor bid proposals 
  • Review Bid documents and creates pre bid RFIs 
  • Ability to create budgetary pricing off schematic drawings  
  • Base building experience/interior project experience  
  • Analyze drawings and create subcontractor lists  
  • Transmit Requests for Proposal RFPs to subcontractors; following up by phone and e-mail to ensure an adequate number of bids will be received  
  • Develop subcontractor and supplier relationships  
  • Establish and maintain relationships with architects, owners, engineers, designers, clients, and others for potential business development  
  • Collaborate with Operations group during estimate to develop quantities, logistics plan and schedules  
  • Lead and facilitate pre-bid sessions  
  • Gather historical data from past/on-going projects for use in future estimates  
  • Identifies, establishes, and manages strategic relationships with clients, subcontractors and unions to gather resources and build effective project estimating teams that help win and deliver work  
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with subcontractors' material and equipment suppliers ensuring all quality and safety standards are met  
  • Prepare estimates at different levels of completion (conceptual, schematic, partial design)  
  • Ensures the flow of project information is maintained and documented.  
  • Reviews all bid forms prepared for submission  
  • Reviews schedule and constructability issues with project operations staff  
  • Prepares performance and salary reviews for employees and related follow up  
  • Prepares instructions to bidders, bid form and other bid solicitation information as required  
  • Prepares conceptual budgets based on minimal information  
  • Promotes and communicates our vision and purpose through service, talent, and choices 
  • Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations  
  • Participate in the transfer of information on successful projects including the Job Kick-off Meeting  
  • May supervise, train and develop junior level Estimator(s)  
  • Research material specifications, pricing and other information
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four-year degree or related experience in Construction Management or similar field and at least 5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience  
  • Prior demonstrated experience with estimating base building, commercial/interior, 
  • Ability to navigate specifications and plans  
  • Proficiency in reviewing RFIs/RFPs  
  • Ability to estimate multiple projects simultaneously  
  • Knowledge of the latest building codes and permit requirements per jurisdiction  
  • Close attention to detail  
  • Strong math skills   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Prior experience with Bluebeam and MS Office
